ell us about an event that happened in your life that changed your life forever. I know this mission trip to Guatemala changed my kids. They become more appreciative of food and life in the U.S.:

Tell us two pet peeves, something that bothers you about a situation or what another person does, that you have and why.

Keep in mind that you have to write a post like you would any other assignment–it is not a text. You must proofread it carefully before you post it. You have to capitalize the “I” within the sentences. You must use regular English and not texting language. You receive 25 points for this assignment. Your first post should be eight sentences minimum worth 15 points. Your two replies should be three sentences each worth 5 points each. I do count off for too many errors in a post.

I really would like it if you would post early in the week rather than waiting until Sunday to write your post and replies. It is like being an actor at a play and reading your lines after the audience has left.

PLEASE READ: I correct your assignments and give you feedback. If you follow my feedback, you can make a better grade on your next assignment. Many module assignments build one after another, and if you do not read my feedback, I have to take points off over and over again that you could have fixed for the next assignment.

I want you to become better writers for your other classes that will require reports and essays. This course gets you ready by having you apply APA in-text citations and references. When the assignments state you should have two outside sources, you should as a general rule use one or two quotes from each source to back up your thoughts. DO NOT type up words that are not your own unless you put it in quotes and give credit.

For the highest grade on your Check Your Understanding work, I want you to use a couple quotes or paraphrases to back up what you are saying about the essay. Also, write a Reference Page for the essay. You will get used to doing this every time, and you will be very comfortable in using APA in the future.

Attached is a help sheet for commas. Also attached are some notes from me and from the Purdue Owl Writing Center about how to use APA formatting. I have also attached a sample of how to write Module 2 Check Your Understanding. If you are a scholar of APA, and you find I have a comma off, please let me know. If I cannot find an exact example on Purdue Owl, I use my own interpretation, and maybe you know of another way other than how I did it. Please look at the reference page section because it shows you how to do an essay/article within a textbook like what you have EACH time for the Check Your Understanding assignments. If you read these documents, you most likely will apply it, and thus you will make a higher grade on your assignments. I went through a lot of extra work to give you this help. I have basically shown you how to do your Module 2 Check Your Understanding assignment. Good luck!

Welcome to Week 3.

Please use your creativity and sensory language in this discussion forum. Write a detailed description of the taste of anger, the sound of sadness, and the color of love. I really want you to impress me.

Do you think anger is acceptable and how do you personally control it and why? How do you know you are in love?

Write at least a minimum of eight sentences for your original post and three sentences for your reply. Write a high-quality post that is error free. Please capitalize your “I,” punctuate, and use proper sentence structure.

If your original post is error free and fulfills the minimum requirements, you will receive 15 points. You will receive 5 points for each post–if each post fulfills the requirements.

Hi Students:

Welcome to Week 6!

First Part of this Discussion Forum: You are to pretend that a company is sending you to another country, and you need to know their customs so you do not offend any one. You are to know what kind of gift you can take for people in the company you will do a lot of work with, and you need to know typical ways to greet people. Write a summary of different communications that are in another country. You are to choose a country and report about it. Some of you have had military assignments in another country, and you know from experience the customs in another country. Make sure and keep track of what the other students are writing about a country BECAUSE each one of you should tell about the multicultural communication from a different country. There should be TEN different countries discussed in this forum.

I have provided a picture of my surroundings when I am at National Glacier Park, Montana in the summer.

t of this Discussion Forum: Here is your chance to describe your surroundings so we all feel like we are right there with you. You will be using your ability to evoke our senses through your description. Go outside and describe everything you are seeing and experiencing. If you are in a military situation where you cannot divulge this kind of information, just think of a place you know very well and describe it.

Just like the other discussion forums, I give 15 points for your error-free first post in answer to the questions and 5 points for each reply to your classmates.

Best to you,

Dr. J

Welcome to Week 7. You only have one week left. You are doing a great job!

Choose a controversial situation and give your thoughts and feelings about this. You are writing in a tactful way in order not to offend others who might have a different viewpoint on your topic. In some ways this might be a persuasive message where you are trying to get others to understand your way of thinking.

An example for me would be guns. My husband does not know anything about guns because they are pretty rare to have in Germany, so he tends to not have a positive attitude about them. I grew up in a family that put food on the table from hunting. Since I am from Arkansas, I won’t gross you out by telling you all the different animals I ate. I might even be offending some of you who are vegans or vegetarians. In Montana, the average household supposedly has 26 guns. I find this statistic hard to believe, but I do know a lot of individuals who have a loaded gun on their nightstand. Montana has the castle law, and it means a person can shoot someone who breaks into their home. There is no question about whether the intruder has a weapon or not. The shooting of the foreign exchange student in a guy’s garage made national news. I have not told you my stand on guns because I am still in a quandry about it. I do not have a gun now, but I am not against them either. I guess I sound like a politician. The picture I included is of me getting a Christmas tree from our property high up in the mountains. I walked by some huge footprints of a mountain lion, and I was a little worried. I think having a gun would have given me some security. I would only shoot the animal if it charged towards me.

You are to write your original post and reply to two students. Please be diplomatic in your replies to other students if you have an opposing view. This is not a debate but a discussion. As usual, I give 15 points for the original post if it is error free and 5 points for each reply.

Keep on writing,

Hi Students:

Congratulations on making it to our last week of English Composition II. It has been a thrilling adventure.

What techniques have you applied in order to be successful in getting your online work completed?

Please provide two discussion forum questions that you feel could get some interesting answers from all the students. When you write a reply to the other students, answer one of the questions that person submits.

What are your parting words about this course?

It has been my pleasure to be your instructor in this course.

We are no longer using Turnitin.com. We have another program we will be using, and the work to check your document for any words that are not your own (you will set up in quotes and give credit) will be done by me.
