You have learned, from reading the full Week 1 lesson, from reading your assigned textbook pages, and from participating in discussion, about how to preview your readings, how to interact with your readings, and how to determine the meanings of words, as well as how an author’s purpose is tied directly to your ability to process information well and to grow as a reader and as a writer.
Now, it is time for you to practice the use of all of these techniques!
Open the Week 1 Assignment Worksheet and complete all four sections, taking the time to read and understand each question and to carefully apply what you have learned while completing the worksheet.
Use the Week 1 lesson, your textbook readings, and your notes on those readings to perform each portion of the worksheet.
Type all of your work directly into the worksheet, following all instructions fully. Save the completed worksheet to your computer in a Microsoft Word document (required!) under your name and submit it to this week’s assignment submission area.
