Cause and effect of obesity
Obesity is a serious, chronic disease that can have a negative effect on many systems in the human body.
Cause
Obesity has many causes, some of the main causes are not being physically active, poor eating and poor sleeping habits. Not being physically active is the main cause of obesity because calories are not being burned when foods and drinks are consumed. Not being physically active also heighten the risk for other body related problems such as coronary heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. The second cause of obesity are limited choices and food prices, they both play an enormous part in poor eating habits. Research shows the average person would purchase the cheapest product available, the average person would spend six dollars on a slice of pizza and a large cup of soda; rather than spend twelve dollars on a salad and a bottle of water. And the third cause of obesity is poor sleeping habits. Sleeping helps maintain a healthy balance of the hormones that make the body feels hungry (ghrelin) or full (leptin). If the body does not get enough rest the ghrelin level goes up (hungry) and when the body gets enough rest the leptin leptin level goes down (not hungry).
Effect
The effect of obesity is negative. Being obese and overweight can lead to high blood pressure and heart failure. Having high blood pressure is not good for the body because the heart workload increases, the heart will have to pump more blood throughout the body which will put more pressure on the artery walls and that can lead to heart failure. Obesity is not a direct effect of heart failure however obesity creates complication that can then result into heart failure. Coronary heart disease is a complication that obesity cause and it is the No. 1 killer in America, affecting more than 13 million Americans, according to research (©2005-2015 WebMD, LLC). This disease does not just affect the person life, this disease impact their love ones lives as well.
